Tomorrow it's #SmallBizSatUK - 7th December 2019. It's a National event, designed to support small business although you might not realise it in our High St.
Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to 'shop local' and support small businesses in their communities.
What is Small Business Saturday? - https://smallbusinesssaturdayuk.com/index.aspx
The day itself takes place on the first Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses.
On Small Business Saturday, customers across the U.K go out and support all types of small businesses, online, in offices and in stores. Many small businesses take part in the day by hosting events and offering discounts.
I've written to Conservative-led, Rochford District Council, to ask them HOW they plan to support the yearly campaign. The Conservatives 'claim' to support small business and our ailing High Streets, but the reality is that there is very little action from our local authority on this issue.
It appears to me that they will sit on their hands and like in the case of Rochford, it will offer, too little, too late.
Even the Town Council have made no effort to assist the retailers on what, for many retailers, is a 'make or break' time of year.
It's disappointing and I can only draw a conclusion that the High St doesn't feature heavily in our Council(s) vision for the future.
